Melted Crayons!

Ok so this is the first time I've attempted this. I used up Dominiks broken crayons that he had already peeled the paper off of. I lined my mini muffin tin with paper liners as I've heard the wax will ruin pans. I baked at 250 degrees for 10 minutes. I think they turned out great! Hopefully Dominik likes them!

Dominik is 28 months!

We have been very busy the last month, despite the weekends of rain, we have been practicing riding Dominik's bike. He can ride around the block, but hasn't quite mastered the steering part. He is so focused when he rides. Its so cute.

Dominik also has a tatoo now. Haha. He received a couple of tatoos at an Easter egg hunt. He loved showing off "Miderman".

While Dominik's words are advancing we noticed he has trouble saying hard consonants. We aren't worried, I'm sure it will come along. It just sometimes makes it hard to understand him. And as I like to put it, I speak Dominik, but I'm not completely fluent. :). Since I'm around him all day I do understand him the best!

We are still continuing with our Letters/Numbers of the week. This week is F. We baked Funny Face cookies this week. That is what Dominik his holding in the picture.

Every time we walk in the door from outside he always has to announce that he's home. He says "I'm hoooome!" And then walks around the house for a few minutes saying it. It's really funny.

He also enjoys looking out for the garbage man. Today just happens to be trash day and every time he hears the truck he runs to a window to try and see him. Once the garbage has been picked up and the truck drives away, he says "Thank you mar-man" (garbage man). Lucky for him we have 3 different garbage containers so we see 3 different trucks come around.

He is also all about copying what he sees on tv like dances or singing. He is quite the character and keeps us laughing.

Potty training is going during the day. We have had a few accidents but most of them were because he couldn't get his underwear off in time. He still gets a diaper at nap and bedtime. Maybe one day I'll be brave enough to let him wear undies at night!

Easter!

We had a pretty low key Easter as we didn't go anywhere or have family in town. The kids got to meet the Easter Bunny at a MOMS Club Easter party on Thursday. Dominik loved it! He was truly amazed. On Sunday we had an Easter egg hunt for Dominik and we also went on a bike ride/walk. He's getting so good at his bike! Here are a few pictures. Enjoy!

My running buddies!

This was the first time I hadn't put Brooklyn in her infant seat while in the jogging stroller. She loved it and so did Dominik. He kept leaning over to talk to her. So cute!

Pinterest

Well I am slightly addicted to pinterest and I try and do at least one thing that I have pinned a week. This week we made sidewalk paint! It was so easy!
1/4c cornstarch
1/4c cold water
Food coloring
That's it! I divided that between 3 small containers, so I made 3 colors. Dominik had a blast and so did I! I might try and incorporate it into some fancy kid photography some how (also another Pinterest idea).

Brooklyn is 6 months!

What a month it's been! We now have a crawler, a sitter, and a very good solid food eater!
Her favorite thing to crawl to is a wipes package. We can play fetch with her. It's pretty funny. She also loves to attack Dominik's Legos, and I'm pretty sure he doesn't love that! Haha.
As far as food goes, I am still breastfeeding her 4 times a day, but she also gets solids at breakfast (rice cereal), lunch (fruit and veggie) and dinner (fruit and veggie). Solids include carrots, peas, green beans, butternut squash, sweet potatoes, bananas, pears, and apples. I plan to try a new food each week!
Still no teeth, but drooling like crazy. She is becoming a better napper, even though morning naps are usually compromised since we are typically out and about. Oh well! As always she is super smiley and we've been able to get some great pictures!
She never really had too much of a problem adjusting to California and we look forward to taking her to the beach on a regular basis!

Dominik is 27 months!

As you can see from the picture, Dominik is still a Lego/Duplo fanatic!  He loves dumping the blocks out, building, and especially making "choo-choos."  Mom helped him with the "lego city" in the picture.  Dominik in the last month has come to love kicking a ball around!  Its so fun to be able to pass the soccer ball back and forth between us.  He actually "gets" it!  We still practice with his tee ball set every once in a while.  He has also taken a liking to digging in the dirt/garden area of the yard.  I will see him from the kitchen window sometimes just grab the shovel and go to town.

We went to the beach this past Saturday.  It was chilly, but a lot of fun.  Bruce surprised us and we went to Santa Monica Beach and Pier.  There was a lot of great people watching on the pier!  Dominik of course loved playing in the sand, he even let us bury him!  Good thing we had the sand toys we bought while we were in Florida. Some new things that Dominik is saying are:  c'mon, snack, apple, grape, bear, garage, draw, and of course others that I can't seem to remember.  He is still eating good.  I have been trying to get him to eat what I make Bruce and I for supper.  So far he has eaten ribs, chicken pot pie, tacos, and steak.  Somtimes it is still easier to give him something that he likes, rather than try and get him to try something new!
In the last week, I have been frustrated with trying to get Dominik into a story time here in CA.  You have to pre-register, so I called to do that for the session that begins at the end of the month.  Well, its full at all libraries. :(  I am on a waiting list that is 6 deep.  I'm keeping my fingers crossed that we get in, but it doesn't seem promising.  The next session of story time doesn't begin until JUNE!!  Anyways, so while I was frustrated, I remembered that I had downloaded some free printable books from Scholastic a while back.  So last week, we began working on numbers and letters!  We started with A and one.  On Mondays I introduce the letter and the number with a coloring sheet.  Throughout the week we will cook/bake things that begin with the letter, and then also make a handprint painting that I found on Pinterest.  I'm pretty excited.  The picture below is from our making Applesauce adventure.  He did such a good job helping me peel the apples!

One last update, we are still working on potty training.  He seems to want to go a lot more, so I'm thinking one weekend soon we will try the 3 day potty training method to see if we can't get this kid outta diapers!  Wish us luck!
