Brooklyn is 9 months!

9 months.  We have our check up next week, with a new doctor, so wish us luck.  I really hate finding doctors.

Brooklyn is a little explorer.  She is very quick and sneaky, so if you don't have your eye on her, she will for sure be getting into some sort of trouble!  Her favorite is the stairs since we don't have a gate at the bottom, only the top.  She finds it hilarious when you catch her on the 3rd step up.  Her next favorite place to get into trouble is the bathroom.  Toilet lids need to be down otherwise she will get wet.  She also likes to eat toilet paper and play with the plastic garbage bags.  Needless to say we keep all bathroom doors closed.

She still only has 2 teeth.  2 more look like they are popping through on bottom, so if they are coming, I hope they make an appearance before vacation next week!  She still loves to feed herself.  We give her peas, diced bananas and puffs.  She has also figured our how to use Dominik's sippy cup with a straw.  I might need to get one for her too.

Baby girl also has some curls!  Her hair is getting longer in the back and its starting to curl a little bit!  Dominik never had this as his hair grew into a natural mohawk.  I'm loving the curls and can't wait for more to come!

Brooklyn has also been shaking her "groove thang".  We have been having family dance parties lately and Brooklyn will start bopping her body back and forth when the music is on and then stop when it stops.  Its so funny.  She has also "almost" clapped.  She holds her hands out and looks at them and kind of brings them together, but the hands don't always connect.  She also loves to put her lips together and blow.  She thinks it makes a funny noise and when she gets going, she's usually doing it for 10 minutes or so. I love watching her explore new things!

Dominik is 30 months!

Yikes.  This kid is crazy.  As I type, he decided he wasn't going to nap today.  So he is sitting coloring his page for the letter of the week which is "O".  We have been growing out his hair and he is getting some fabulous surfer locks.  Perfect for the beach!

Dominik loves his letters.  He is constantly pointing out letters and spelling words for us.  He usually spells words in his stories at bed time.  Yesterday when we were on our bike ride he had to stop and spell STOP that was painted in the street.  He was so excited!

He is definitely boy as he loves playing in the dirt, sand, and water.  I've caught him digging in my garden a few times, but luckily no harm was done.  To add to the "boy" yesterday Bruce found some slugs by the front door, so he came inside, got some salt and laid the out on the sidewalk so him and Dominik could melt them.  As I sat there shaking my head, I can't even begin to wonder what is in store for us!
Dominik also has a little bit of kindness in him.  haha.  We have experienced this a few times when we are all sitting on the couch together.  He will disappear and come back with 3 pillows and 3 books.  One of each for Bruce, himself and me.  He loves it and thinks he is so cool.  He has also figured out that when we get mad at him for taking one of Brooklyn's toys that she is playing with, he thinks he can just replace it with a different toy.  That is probably fine for now, but I'm sure in a few short month he will have to put up a fight!

Puke

Well we had our first barf in the car incident yesterday.  We were headed up to Big Bear Lake for a Father's Day picnic.  We had just gotten there and was scoping out a place to eat when all of a sudden I looked back at Dominik and he had puke everywhere!  He then proceeded to puke a few more times.  It was absolutely disgusting.  Luckily there was a parking lot/picnic area pretty close with a bathroom, so we got him washed off and wiped off the car seat as best as possible.  We then ate lunch as Dominik was starving.  Luckily it was only car sickness from the curvy mountain roads.  After lunch we cut our trip short and praised the Lord that there was a Kmart up there.  We purchased a new convertible car seat, as Brooklyn needed one anyways.  Boy did we luck out!  Puke smell is almost gone off of the car seat cover, and we survived!

Daily Snap

Ok, so I've tried little things like this before and have failed, but this time it's for real.  I am taking a challenge from bumGenius.  They are one of the brands of cloth diapers we use. I am a few days behind, but will keep adding the pictures to the end of this post once I take them.  Read more about the challenge here.  It's a fun way to try and take new pictures, get inspired, and just enjoy life.  Please check back for updates, it's sure to be an experience!

Brooklyn's first contest

As promised, here is the picture I submitted for the contest.  The announce the winner today.  Don't worry, I'll let you know if she wins!

Yum

So ever since bruce bought me my KitchenAid, I have loved to make my own pizza. Last night was nothing short of awesome. I made a white sauce, chicken, onion, and broccoli pizza and it was by far the best I've ever made. I have been trying to perfect the sauce for a while and I think I've finally got it! I used cream cheese, sour cream, garlic garlic, spinach and herb and a shake of cajun seasoning. Will definitely be making a mental note on this recipe!
