Brooklyn is 5 months!

Another month down, and my how she is growing. Bruce made a comment yesterday that he thinks she literally grew overnight! She is wearing 6/9 month clothes and since we've moved to California, I might need to buy her a few more long sleeve outfits because it's a tad bit chillier than Arizona. She is still smiley and happy. She has been very content exploring her exersaucer and loves when big bro helps her with the different toys. When she's down on her tummy she has began pushing up into a modified plank with her forehead pressed against the floor. I feel that she maybe be crawling at 6 months! She does scoot around and pushes/crawls backwards, so watch where you step! We began rice cereal slightly after 4 months, and just this week began carrots and will start peas tomorrow. So far she isn't the biggest fan of eating from a spoon, but we will carry on. She likes to chew on anything she can get her hands on.

Our next challenge...finding a pediatrician. :/

And we're off!

The packers came on Thursday and packed our house in 6 hours with 146 boxes. Who knew how much stuff you could have until it's all packed. I have a feeling that we'll be opening some boxes wondering why we kept it. Haha. The movers came on Friday and disassembled beds and loaded furniture/boxes in 5 hours. We are the only house on the truck, so that is nice. They will be at our new house Monday morning. We can't wait. Until then we enjoyed the hospitality of our friends Tony and Megan Friday night and we are off to CA today and will be in a hotel until Monday. I can't wait to get there and start exploring!

And he's back!

After refusing to even go near the potty for over a week, Dominik had a successful potty trip this morning! Ahh I was so excited. I'm hoping to accomplish more pottying once we get to CA!

Top Ten Monday?

So it's not Tuesday, but whatev.

Here are my Top 10 things I'll miss about Arizona!

10.  Playgroup and Storytime.  I've become good friends with one of the moms there and her 2 daughters are the same age as Dominik and Brooklyn.  It was sad to leave them.

9.  Being able to walk to Target.  I absolutely loved being less than a mile away!

8.  Taking care of my garden.  I've had it up and running for over a year and my cherry tomato plant is FULL of tomatoes still.  I told my neighbors they can sneak in and get some until the new owners arrive.

7.  My neighbors.  They are fun.  We hang out every once in a while, and it's always nice to have someone looking after your place when you go out of town.

6.  Kiewit wives.  Yes there will be Kiewit wives in SoCal, but they won't be the same.  Thank goodness we still get to come back for district meeting.

5.  The Hunter Family.  Nik was Bruce's first friend here.  The first year Bruce lived here we had Thanksgiving with Nik and Melissa.  We've gone to Vegas/UFC's with them.  We've been through pregnancies together.  Our kids love hanging out and playing.  We've spent countless Saturday nights at either one of our houses watching UFC, drinking, playing games, and eating delicious food (and some not so delicious food--note: do NOT try and make spinach artichoke dip with Miracle Whip.  haha)  They will truly be missed, good thing we have a big house so they can come visit and go to Disney!!

4.  Our doctors.  I think I just hate trying to find new ones, and the ones I've found, I can barely pronounce.  :(  no fun.

3.  Sitting with the window open in February.  We'll I'll probably still be able to do that, but it's just fun to say and rub in to all of my Nebraska friends' faces.

2.  Direct flights to and from Omaha.

1.  Our house.  This is our first house and we've had a lot of memories here.  Even though it's only been a short 5 years, we've had many visitors, laughter, tears, and love come through here.  I really am going to miss every little piece of it.  Well, minus the scorpions of course :)

Since I'm thinking about it...

and will probably be crazy busy this week with the movers coming, I figured I should update quick on Dominik! He will be 26 months next Saturday!  My how time flies.  He has begun taking more interest in Brooklyn which is fun to watch.  He tries to help her do things and shows her what he does.  He is a smart boy!  The other day when she was in the Exersaucer, he gently grabbed her hand and helped her press the buttons that made noise.  It was too cute for words, and made me feel all warm and fuzzy inside.  Dominik still loves to Skype with anyone and everyone.  Lately, any time we talk to someone, he has to drag out his rocking horse and show everyone how awesome he is at riding it!  It is quite comical.  We are able to understand more and more words every day.  He is able to correctly identify buses, planes (manes), apples, cows (moo), juice, and Mickey Mouse (mouse).  I think it's great that he has taken an interest in Mickey, especially since he'll get to meet him as soon as we make a trip to Disneyland!  Another thing Dominik has done a few times is instead of getting himself ready for "night night", he has gotten Mickey ready instead.  He lays Mickey down on his pillow, tucks him in, gives him a book, turns on his seahorse, shuts the lights off and closes the door.  It was so funny to see him do this the first time.  I am impressed that he is showing compassion to his stuffed animals.  Dominik still enjoys drawing.  One day this week he enjoyed it a little too much and found a permanent marker and  colored all over the tile.  Luckily, I was able to easily remove it with Greased Lightning, but I still had a mini heart attack.  On the potty front, Dominik had a GREAT day last Sunday, going potty on the potty 4 out of 7 times.  But then Monday happened and he hasn't gone on the potty since.  Oh well.  Maybe we'll try super hard again when Grandma and Grandpa L are visiting in CA.

Sadly, this will be the last post about Dominik in Arizona.  I hope that he adjusts to the move well, and doesn't get too out of whack.  I think it might help that Grandma and Grandpa L will be visiting shortly after we get there, so he should stay busy with them.  I think he will miss some of his friends here, but hopefully we can visit each other since we'll only be 5 hours away!
